Mezzaluna Personal Chef Service & Catering
John Paulk is executive chef of Mezzaluna-Portland, Oregon's premier personal chef and catering service. A graduate of Western Culinary Institute, John was awarded a highest honors medal and the prestigious Diplôme Le Cordon Bleu from Academie d'Art Culinaire de Paris.
During the late 1980's John managed Cocolat, the celebrated San Francisco patisserie owned by James Beard award-winning cookbook author, Alice Medrich. In recent years, he apprenticed at London Grill in Portland's famous Benson Hotel. Receiving outstanding marks for superior performance, he was later invited to join the staff.
Chef John has worked for several exclusive catering companies in Portland, and served as a private chef for Oatfield Estates where he was responsible for preparing several hundred meals per week. He has cooked for corporate CEO's, company executives, popular Portland media personalities, and everyday people like you.
John is a talented media communicator having been interviewed for The Oregonian newspaper. His television appearances include regular spots on KATU's AM Northwest, where he cooks healthy, low-fat cuisine as a representative for LA Weight Loss.
Since 2005, Chef John has been a regular guest on The Georgene Rice Show, 93.9 FM KPDQ, in a segment called "Food Talk with Chef John". He has also judged local and statewide food competitions.
John is ardent in educating others about fine cuisine and regularly teaches classes in downtown Portland at Sur La Table-America's finest culinary store.
As a member of the American Culinary Federation, John possesses a Certified Culinarian designation, and also belongs to the American Personal Chef Association, Chefs de Cuisine Society of Oregon, and adheres to the International Personal Chef Code of Ethics.
